Sir,

GOVERNMENT HOUSE.
HONGKONG. 1st April, 1921.
I have the honour to inform you that a number of applications have been received from ex-enemy firms whose branches in this Colony have been liquidated for the return of account books and documents belonging to these branches. I nave hitherto instructed the Custodian to refuse to comply with such requests but in view of the fact that the liquida- -tions are now completed and the books are no longer required by the Custodian for any purpose I consider it advisable that they should oe disposed of in order to avoid the charges at present being incurred for storage.
2. I should be glad if I may be informed of the practice of the Custodian of Enemy Property in London with regard to such books and documents.
I have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your most obedient humble servant,
B.2. Stubbe
Governor, &c.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
WINSTON CHURCHILL, M.P.,
